When you think of the colours of Christmastime, thoughts of red and green decorations instantly come to mind, often with a nod to Santa's iconic red suit. Each year, WestJet has successfully been adding a vibrant blue to the ubiquitous Christmas colour palette.
Since 2012, WestJet has been spreading Christmas cheer in its series of holiday campaigns. The first year consisted of an over-the-top Christmas flash mob surprising passengers waiting for their red-eye flight. Blue-suited Santa made his first appearance and gave away stockings full of goodies. Since their inaugural year, WestJet has been one-upping themselves in the cheer and charity department every Christmas.
WestJet is known for giving their passengers wonderful surprises, like the year that teams of blue Santa hat wearing WestJetters quickly shopped for every passenger on two flights to surprise them with the items they asked Santa for when they landed. Not only do WestJet passengers feel the Christmas cheer every year, but members of communities in need are also touched by WestJet's charity. The Christmas following the Fort McMurray fire, WestJet held a snowflake soiree for the families affected to help make the holiday season a little easier.
This year, WestJet proved that there's no stopping their desire to give back. In their 12 Flights of Christmas campaign, WestJet passengers voted between two options (like Home or Away, Experiences or Stuff, etc.) and WestJet created a surprise around the winning term. And this year, WestJet had some help in brainstorming the big surprises from kids from the Boys & Girls Club of Canada because who's better to let their imaginations run wild than kids?
Free flights, performances, and a meal cooked by a famous chef were just a handful of the surprises WestJet and the boys and girls thought up this year.
So congratulations to WestJet at being our second Hall of Fame inductee! We can't wait to see what you do next year. For this year's campaign, you can see all 12 flights here and watch the video below:
